Pulau Tikus Condos fetch high rentals

Penang -DOES it cost an arm and leg to stay in Pulau Tikus, one of Penang 's top residential and commercial districts? No, it doesn't.

If you are looking to rent, for example, an unfurnished condominium unit, the monthly rental could start from RM1,200, depending on its location and facilities available.

As for the landed residential properties in Pulau Tikus, the rentals are also not that high. The rentals of unfurnished terraced houses, for example, start from RM1,200 per month, while the rentals of unfurnished semi-detached houses start from RM1,800 per month.

“Compared with condominiums, terraced and semi-detached units are not so much sought-after for rental.

“That is why their rentals are lower in comparison with condominiums, which are in higher demand because of their recreational facilities and round-the-clock security.

“Bungalows can, however, fetch better rentals. For a fully furnished bungalow, the monthly rental can be between RM10,000 and RM20,000, depending on the size, location and finishing.”

“A terraced house in Pulau Tikus sold for between RM100,000 and RM200,000 in the 1980s, can now fetch a selling price of about RM600,00.”

One of the most sought-after condominium properties in Pulau Tikus is the Gurney Park.

“The rentals for Gurney Park condominium units range between RM1,000 and RM2,000, depending on whether the unit is furnished or unfurnished,”

“Investments into residential properties in Pulau Tikus, whether high rise or landed, fetch good returns because the district is a thriving commercial and financial centre.

“In fact, Pulau Tikus, which has a high population of upper income residents, has the most financial outlets after Beach Street and Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah,”
